چکیده
Abstract A new method to measure and quantify the 3D mineralogical composition of particulate materials using X-ray computed micro-tomography (CT) is presented. The part a workflow designed standardize analysis particles based on their microstructures without need segment individual classes or grains. Classification follows decision tree with criteria derived from particle histogram parameters that are specific each microstructure, which in turn can be identified by 2D-based automated quantitative mineralogy. quantification mineral abundances implemented at level according complexity taking into consideration partial volume effect interphases. was tested two samples different size distributions carbonate rock containing various phases. allowed differentiation more than traditional image segmentation uses only grey-scale for classification. Nevertheless, due lower spatial resolution lack chemical information, not all phases 2D could distinguished. However, distinguished representative quantification, especially coarser sizes minor Therefore, shows great potential as complement methods an alternative phase images. Particle-based geometrical properties opens applications raw processing industries.

X-ray computed tomography.
X-ray computed tomography (CT), introduced into clinical practice in 1972, was the first of the modern slice-imaging modalities. To reconstruct images mathematically from measured data and to display and to archive them in digital form was a novelty then and is commonplace today. CT has shown a steady upward trend with respect to technology, performance and clinical use independent of predictio...
متن کاملAdapted sampling for 3D X-ray computed tomography
In this paper, we introduce a method to build an adapted mesh representation of a 3D object for X-Ray tomography reconstruction. Using this representation, we provide means to reduce the computational cost of reconstruction by way of iterative algorithms. The adapted sampling of the reconstruction space is directly obtained from the projection dataset and prior to any reconstruction. It is buil...

Micro-computed tomography (μCT) has been successfully used to study the cardiovascular system of mouse embryos in situ. With the use of barium as a suitablecontrast agent, blood vessels have beenimaged and analysed quantitatively such asblood volume and vessel sizes on embryosof ages 14.5 to 16.5 days old. The advantageof using this imaging modality is that it hasprovide...
متن کاملImpact of Photon Spectra on the Sensitivity of Polymer Gel Dosimetry by X-Ray Computed Tomography
Introduction: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of X-ray spectra on the sensitivity of a polymer gel dosimeter imaged with a conventional computed tomography (CT) scanner. Material and Methods: The whole process of CT imaging of an irradiated polymer gel was simulated by MCNPX Monte Carlo (MC) code. The imaging of polyacrylamide gel was accomplished by means of a co...
